Using Whiteboards Ideas

Whiteboards can be used for countless different things. They are great visual resources when it comes to things like education, introducing new subjects, reviewing subjects and developing lesson plans. However, whiteboards don’t have to be limited to the school arena. They can be utilized at home or in a place of business as well.

Significance

  • A great thing about white boards is the visual component they provide. Many people find it easier to learn or comprehend information when it’s presented visually. In both a classroom and business environment, the whiteboard can bring invaluable benefits. In addition to lesson plans and business dealings, it can serve as an instrument to bring people together and encourage participation. It opens the door for discussion and the development of future ideas and plans.

Function

  • The whiteboard can also be used at the home, office or other facility to track progress of programs or individuals. When it’s used as a springboard for motivation, individuals can gauge the progress that’s being made right in front of them. Seeing its change and growth firsthand tends to acts as a motivator. The same results can be obtained when it’s employed to keep records or schedules of fitness goals, chores, finances, budgeting and to-do lists. It also helps with the organizational and prioritizing aspect.

Features

  • Whiteboards can be covered with a fabric and used as a serving tray or display. You can cover the board with a material of your choice and then decorate it. It can be a great decoration and add character to any room. If you have a special occasion coming up or a holiday is approaching, you can show your spirit on the board. For the holidays, you can cover it and cut out trees, ornaments, wreaths or other decorations.

Types

  • Whiteboards can also be turned into calendars and game boards. The surface is perfect for playing board games or cards on; it’s also an opportunity to create your own personalized game. A number of arts and crafts projects can also incorporate a whiteboard. It can be used as an easel, turned can into a collage or even a giant picture scrapbook.
To make a unique calendar, you can cover it in felt and purchase double-sided Velcro tape. Do this by attaching the Velcro to things like numbers, pictures of birthday cakes (or pictures that represent any other holiday or event) and even pictures of people. You can also use the calendar as a countdown to a special celebration or occasion like a wedding, graduation or party.

Potential

  • If you’re looking for a special and personalized gift to give someone, look no further than a whiteboard. The board can be designed using a theme that applies to her, her name, to showcase a poem or other writing that’s special to her, or as a memory board containing items like ticket stubs, pictures, postcards of places traveled and much more.

Hang Whiteboard in Cubicles

A whiteboard is very convenient, as you can write plans and instructions on it and then erase them whenever you wish. You can also use a whiteboard to post adhesive-backed removable notes. Depending upon what your cubicle walls are made of and whether you can attach fittings to your whiteboard, you may be able to hang it in your cubicle with Velcro, double-sided tape or special mounting hooks. One reliable way to securely mount a whiteboard to a cubicle wall without making any changes to the wall or board is with C-clamps.

  • 1

Turn the handle of a C-clamp toward you (counterclockwise) as far as it goes. Cut out a piece of adhesive-backed felt or rubber that is about the size of the ferrule. Remove the backing tape and affix it to the flat surface of the ferrule. Repeat with a second C-clamp.

  • 2

Hold the whiteboard so that the top of it is flush with the top of your cubicle wall. Choose a sidewall with nothing else mounted to it from the top of the wall to the height of the bottom edge of the whiteboard.

  • 3

Position the C-clamp at the top of the wall so that the screw handle faces inside your cubicle and the ferrule is about an inch from the top left edge of your whiteboard. Turn the handle clockwise to tighten the screw as much as you can over the whiteboard without forcing it.

  • 4

Position another C-clamp at the top of your wall so that the screw handle faces inside your cubicle and the ferrule is about an inch from the top right edge of your whiteboard. Turn the handle clockwise to tighten the screw as much as you can over the whiteboard without forcing it.

  • 5

Pull down on your whiteboard to see how securely it is attached to the cubicle wall. Prepare a third C-clamp according to the directions in Step 1 if you want a tighter fit and position it so that the handle faces inward and the ferrule is on the side of your wall and about one inch above the bottom of the whiteboard. Turn the handle clockwise to tighten the screw as much as you can over the whiteboard without forcing it.

How to Attach Pictures to Whiteboards

Companies, schools and families all can take advantage of the organization and motivation a whiteboard brings. To use your whiteboard at the next level, not just for writing ideas and making lists, attach pictures to it. The pictures can represent memories, goals or just pictures for fun. You want to be able to remove the pictures from the whiteboard and move the pictures around without damaging the picture or the board.

  • 1

Hold your picture up to where you want it to go on the whiteboard. Do not cover any words with the picture.

  • 2

Place one large, strong magnet at the top center of the picture. If you have multiple small magnets, put them on the four corners of the picture. You can also use magnets with clips to clip the picture in place.

  • 3

Release your hold on the picture. If the picture slides or the magnets fall off, you need to use larger or stronger magnets on the whiteboard.

Whiteboard Design Ideas

Whether you need a space to leave notes for the family or a spot to get inspired, adding a whiteboard in your home can help you get organized. Also called dry-erase boards, whiteboards are available in a number of shapes and sizes, and you can use them almost anywhere in your home.

  • In the Office

    • If your office environment is far from organized, add a single whiteboard to the wall to keep track of your calendar or to brainstorm ideas for that upcoming project. If a small whiteboard space is not enough, you can turn an entire wall or room into a whiteboard with a either a whiteboard paint or dry-erase paint. For a creative twist on the standard whiteboard, find a large, old piece of metal or a metal tray and turn it into a magnetic whiteboard with a coat or two of whiteboard paint.

    In the Kitchen

    • The social hot spot of many homes, the kitchen has become the place where family members stay informed. Add a whiteboard wall calendar in your kitchen to keep track of where everyone is, or just install a little whiteboard on the refrigerator for notes. If you love to cook, a backsplash painted with whiteboard paint can create a spot to attach recipes or write down dishes you love until you can add them to your cookbook.

    Around the House

    • Don’t limit yourself to the kitchen or office when it comes to deciding where to put your whiteboard. If you are the proud parent of an active toddler or creative kid, paint a bedroom wall with whiteboard paint or install whiteboard along the bottom of the wall to create a fun space to play and create. If you have a laid-back get-together planned among friends or family, try using small whiteboards to make placemats.
